Words for this week

The following words, in the form of a  prayer by an anonymous author, came  to my attention a few days ago.  They struck me as worth sharing for your consieration during this pre-election week.  But as a writer, I wanted to give attribution if possible.

After some searchng, I was able to locate the author and received her permission to quote her words.  I do not intend those words to be addressed to or represent any specific religious or political affiliation.  Rather it is my hope they will help cast aside demarcations.

“O God of peace, we ask you to fill the hearts of every person living in the United States during these (numbered) days before the Election.

“Send your Spirit to give refreshing coolness in the  heat of passion.  Set your seal on every heart, every tongue. Train us in kindness and understanding.

“We came to birth through a Revolution. We beg you to give us a new birth, a Revolution of Radical Goodness, Radical Peace-Making. We ask for your angels to keep all people safe from perpetrating or inflicting violence in the coming days and months to come.

“May we all be one, oh God.  May we all be one.” (Kathy McGovern, thestoryandyou.com)

E pluribus unum —  Latin for “Out of one, many” —  is on the Great Seal of the United States.
