Tis the season for making a list and checking it twice.
In this year of Our Lord 2020, lists are likely to include presents that are orderable online. Sometimes from previously unknown stores, sites and sources. Sometimes not readily available, even online.
Take for example, the gifts chosen by the four women (identified below by their first initials) in my “Wise Women” zoom group,
The Gift I would most like to give and receive
M. Joy! As Joseph Campbell said, “We cannot cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live in joy.”
H. That we as a nation would remember how to be civil to each other.
N. Inner peace. Because without inner peace, there is no outer peace.
P. A return to “Believe” after months of “Doubt” sown in our political and moral institutions.
For me, myself, and …
Our zoom’d conversation then turned around. With a nod from us all. To a different kind of list, discovered on the internet. Twenty published “Personal Affirmations” providing help to get through the upcoming winter. Limited to one per person.
After checking the list* at least twice, each W.W. member chose one affirmation for herself.
M. There is a wellspring of resilience I have discovered in myself.
H. The situation is not of my making, but how I react to it is under my control.
N. I navigate today with grace.
P. I’m here for a reason and a purpose. And I’m surrounded by more love than I can imagine.
I hope the above zoom-group experiences will lead to other rock-solid ideas as you wrap up your own holiday gift list. Checking it twice for the presents you’d most like to give– and receive.
Next week — my annual Christmas blog.

A great deal of wisdom in all the observations largely because they are oriented in some way toward others, individually or as a community/country. Inner peace also gives one greater freedom to love, not just to do whatever I want to do to please myself. I wish I could be the proverbial fly on the wall to listen to your discussions.
